Obama Administration Delays Affordable Care Act Employer Mandate Until 2015

By Posted July 2nd, 2013

Citing concerns over whether employers are ready for the new employer and insurer reporting requirements under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), the Obama Administration announced today that it is delaying the start of mandatory employer and insurer reporting requirements by one year.

According to the Treasury Department’s Mark Mazur, pushing the employer mandate back to 2015 will provide the administration more time to find ways to simplify the reporting requirements and time to adjust health coverage and reporting systems to be ready when the change happens..

The Treasury Department has promised to publish formal documentation on this change in the next week.
