I-9 Follow-up: Revamped form is on the way!

By Posted October 17th, 2012

A few weeks back, I mentioned in a blog post that changes are expected to the I-9 form that is required by US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to verify an employee’s identity and to prove that the employee has the necessary authorization to work in the US. The current form has expired but employers are instructed to continue using it until the new form is released.

The USCIS has recently completed its public comment period and is poring over the suggestions as they work to complete and release the new form by the beginning of 2013. It is still unclear when it will be released or if there will be a transition period to help employers switch forms and adjust any processes or software currently in place for the current form.

Regardless of the new format, SpinifexIT customers using Easy Documents will be prepared. If you’re using Easy Documents, you will simply scan the new form and set up the output fields once the form is released to employers. You’ll be ready to go in a matter of minutes.

We’ll continue to monitor the status of the I-9 and provide updates here as they become available.
