How to Quickly Compare and Validate your SAP HCM and Employee Central Data

A customer recently asked me if they could use Easy Reporter to perform real-time validation checks comparing data in their SAP HCM system with data in their SuccessFactors system. The answer, of course, is “Yes!” and I wanted to share some details with you in this blog post.

Here is an example of how it works. In Easy Reporter’s latest release, fields from SuccessFactors Employee Central are now accessible for reporting from inside SAP HCM alongside all of the fields and sources we have always included. The screenshot below shows the available data fields in Easy Reporter. Now you can see a new addition to this list: “OData Fields from SuccessFactors”. When you select that in Easy Reporter, you will see fields available for reporting directly form Employee Central.

Using Easy Reporter’s drag-and-drop functionality, you can now create reports that contain both SAP HCM and SuccessFactors data side-by-side.  In addition, you could use other Easy Reporter functionality such as the Mapping fields to compare the values in both columns to each other to create a “Difference” report.  For example, I created a quick report that includes the first name, last name and employment status from both SAP and SuccessFactors Employee Central and compares them on an employee-by-employee basis.

I’ve included a few print screens from the report output below to show the two different sources of data.  As you can see, it’s quite easy to find the discrepancies in data between SAP HCM and Employee Central before they become problems for reports, interfaces and integrations.
