Hey, You, Report Off Of My Cloud
Earlier this year, I wrote a blog post about the importance of HR reporting strategy and potential reasons why HR and Payroll teams rarely have such a strategy. That post was the result of meeting many customers at an event in Australia and asking them the same question: “Does your company have a reporting strategy?” You can read that post to learn what I heard in Melbourne, but recent discussions with our SAP and SuccessFactors customers made me realize that this question isn’t getting any easier to answer.
It’s six months later and the issue of reporting strategy has gotten even more important as the HCM landscape continues to shift and evolve. Companies today are looking at hybrid, full cloud and side-by-side deployment models to take advantage of the best-of-breed solutions in the marketplace. What many fail to take into account when they are making these plans is how will they report on their data once it’s been split between SAP and disparate cloud applications.
